2008-2009 Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Business

Tuesday, May 12th 2009 - Wadesboro, NC - Anson Bank & Trust honored Anson County's 2008-2009 Teacher of the Year Patricia Bennett recently at the company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Mrs. Bennett teaches eighth grade Mathematics at Anson Middle School.

"Teachers have a special mission of helping mold and encourage our children to be what they can be, to dream big dreams and realize those dreams," said Kenneth Huntley, Anson Bank & Trust's Board of Directors' Chair, who recognized Mrs. Bennett.

"Patricia Bennett has always had a desire to help people and with a teaching career, she is able to help inspire and motivate young people into becoming productive citizens. Mrs. Bennett received a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Education at Francis Marion College in Florence, South Carolina. Having always enjoyed working with numbers and having great math teachers inspired her to become a math teacher. After 29 years of teaching she says that she still has the desire to help all young people become successful in life and too dream big and reach for their goals."

Additionally, Whit's Convenience of Lilesville was recognized as Anson Bank & Trust's 2009 Outstanding Business. "Whit's Convenience opened its doors in October of 1990 and after almost 19 years in the business Whit says that he still enjoys working with the public and providing a service to his community. Being a major sponsor of several youth athletic teams and mission trips, Whit says that he tries to help everyone he can, just the way that the good people of Anson County have helped him over the years."

Mrs. Bennett was presented with a monetary donation and a desk clock frame from Anson Bank & Trust. The clock frame featured an original piece of art depicting her area of teaching. Mr. & Mrs. Whitlock received a grandfather wall clock in appreciation of their contribution to the local economy.
