Inc., protecting our customers’ privacy has always
been an important aspect of our business relationships.
We continually strive to meet your financial
needs and provide superior service, which includes keeping
the information you provide secure and confidential. The
following is our privacy notice for our customers.
Confidentiality
and Security
We limit access to nonpublic personal information
about you to those employees who need to know that information
to provide products or services to you. Nonpublic personal
information means information about you that is not available
from a public source, such as telephone directories or government
records. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural
safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your
information.
Collecting
Information
When you fill out an application or open
an account, we collect nonpublic personal information from
you such as your name, address, social security number, assets,
and income. As you use your accounts, we gather information
about your transactions with us or with others, such as account
balances, payment history, credit or debit card purchase
information, insurance coverage, and brokerage activity.
We may also obtain other information about you from sources
such as consumer reporting agencies (credit bureaus), including
information regarding your credit history. We use this information
when you apply for credit or other products and when we review
and monitor accounts for collection. We also use this information
to assist us in determining your eligibility for products.
Non-Public
Personal Information and Affiliates
In
order to enhance our customer relationships and provide
a variety of financial products and services, we may share
nonpublic personal information about our customers among
our affiliated companies. Affiliate means a company we
own or control, a company that owns or controls us, or
a company that is owned or controlled by the same company
that owns or controls us. Ownership does not mean complete
ownership, but means owning enough to have control. Uwharrie
Capital Corp and its affiliates includes: Bank of Stanly,
Cabarrus Bank & Trust Company,
Anson Bank & Trust Co., Strategic Investment Group, Strategic
Investment Advisors, Inc. and Gateway Mortgage, Inc.
Medical information obtained as part of
an application for insurance is shared only with those within
the Uwharrie Capital Corp organization who require access
to this information in order to process the application.
Additional standards of confidentiality protect information
related to trust and fiduciary services.
Non-Public
Personal Information and Third Parties
We will not share non-public personal information
about current or former customers to anyone except as disclosed
in this policy or as permitted by law.
Authorized
Sharing and Joint Marketing
We may share information that we receive
from you on applications or other forms, such as name and
address, with companies that perform marketing services on
our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we
have joint marketing agreements. In some cases, this may
be to offer you additional products or to help us determine
other services that may be of value to you. In this event,
a contractual agreement will ensure that your information
is not shared beyond the context of the marketing agreement. We DO
NOT sell customer lists or individual customer
information.
Your
Right To Choose
In this notice, we have explained our
policy about the disclosure of certain information. It
is our desire to give you the benefit of additional financial
services to enhance your entire customer relationship and
assist in the development of your overall financial plan.
However, you may prefer that we not share information about
you with our affiliates or other companies that we may
enlist to provide services. In this event, you may choose
to block disclosure of your nonpublic personal information,
which will apply to all products and services you receive
from us. If you have a joint account and instruct us to
block disclosure, this decision will affect all participants
of the account. You may give us specific instructions on
