Anson Bank & Trust Lends Helping Hand

Wednesday January 19th 2005 - Wadesboro, NC - For its recent holiday generosity, the Anson County School System expressed its thanks to Anson Bank & Trust last week. ACS Supt. Dr. George Truman said Thursday that the bank helped make Christmas brighter for about 12 children and their families.

Truman said the bank's president, Jim Strayhorn, and his staff worked with principals, teachers and guidance counselors to give groceries, toys and clothing. "They ensured Santa Claus was aware of the wishes of some of our students in each area of our county," said Truman. "The Anson Bank & Trust folks spent many hours of shopping, phone calls and time to allow these children to have a very special Christmas this year".

Thursday, the superintendent presented a letter of thanks to the bank's vice president Anne Rivers Flynn. "It's part of our philosophy," Flynn said. "We're very much oriented to giving back to the community. We're very happy we can do that. Anson Bank & Trust believes our success is measured by how much we contribute to the quality of life and economic well-being of our communities.

"As part of our double bottom-line philosophy, we feel that it is important to give back to the community that we serve," she added. "As an active member in the community, we are sincerely and constantly asking, 'What are we doing to help Anson County?' In carrying out our vision, the single most important factor is our unwavering commitment to community. I think you can see this illustrated in our giving this holiday season."
