Cheering For Chad - 2006 Relay For Life
Friday May 5th 2006 - Albemarle, NC - Several
Bank of Stanly and Strategic
Investment Advisors associates
participated in the annual Stanly County Relay for Life held
at Stanly Community College in Albemarle. This event seeks
to raise money to support the efforts of the American Cancer
Society by encouraging local companies to get involved and
have a team walk for a cure. Each walker is asked to raise
$100. All of our team members were able to meet or exceed
this goal, helping to contribute over $4,200. Overall, the
event raised over $112,900 to help the fight against cancer.

Each year, the teams participating set-up
a camp site for the walk and are encouraged to create a theme.
Allen Furr and Eddie Wall headed up the effort, “Cheering
for Chad,” in honor of Strategic Investment Advisors’ Chad
Sullivan. Chad, a four-and-a-half-year cancer survivor, had
a reoccurrence of his Melanoma in April.
“We are so thankful for Bank of Stanly’s
involvement in this event,” said Marti Sullivan, Chad’s
sister and a Senior Financial Consultant with Strategic Investment
Advisors. “Relay for Life is an irreplaceable fundraiser
for the progress of cancer research bringing hope to cancer
patients and their loved ones everywhere. Our family is so
blessed, grateful, and humbled that Chad and I both work
for an organization that truly cares for it’s associates
in the manner Uwharrie
Capital Corp has for the Sullivan's
since Chad’s diagnosis. It has made a challenging time
in the life of our family easier, and we are more thankful
than we could ever say.”
Uwharrie Capital Corp, the parent company
of Bank of Stanly is a $411 million multi-bank holding company
offering a full range of financial solutions through its
