Mt. Pleasant Food Bank
Thursday,
May 18th 2006 - Mt. Pleasant NC - We all know the
feeling of casual hunger, when you'd like something to eat
and it's an hour until your next meal. Food banks are there
for those difficult times when there's no food at home and
it’s
days or weeks until your next check. Early in January Mt.
Pleasant associates of Cabarrus
Bank & Trust learned of
a shortage of food at the Mt. Pleasant Food Ministries. Responding
to this need, they began to help gather food items that could
be used by the Ministry to aid families needing assistance
in the Mt. Pleasant area.
"Working with a local print shop to
develop custom flyers, we encouraged customers and area businesses
to contribute non-perishable food items to this effort. As
a convenience to our customers and the community, the Mt.
Pleasant branch of Cabarrus Bank & Trust was designated
as a drop-off for anyone wanting to make food donations" said
Daria Ledbetter, Mt. Pleasant Branch Manager."
"On February 14th, our associates
delivered two boxes and seven grocery bags full of food items
that were collected from customers, associates
and the community at large. The Mt. Pleasant Food Ministry
makes a difference in our community by assisting people who need a helping
hand to get through some rough times. When we learned they were experiencing
a shortage of food we felt that we could help them out by giving others
in our community a convenient way to make a donation.”
